National coordinator of the (Movimento Brasil Livre), Renato Battista started an online petition in defense of the restitution of the political rights of the former state deputy, Mamãe Falei.
Do Val was revoked in 2022, after sexist audio recordings of him recorded after a trip to Ukraine were leaked. As a result, he also lost his political rights for eight years.
According to Battista, the suggestion, made in a live broadcast, has already received 10 thousand supports. The campaign has the slogan “It’s time to make them offended”, a reference to a phrase said by Do Val from the Assembly rostrum, during a discussion with PT members.
“The impeachment was driven exclusively by political interests. It was never about what he said, but about who he was and the people he denounced. They took away the voice of almost half a million São Paulo residents who voted for him. I have no doubt that he would be elected to whatever position he wanted. We want Arthur do Val on the ballot in 2026”, says Battista.
