A video circulating on social media shows the moment in which the GNR arrests a man suspected of stealing diesel from generators, in the district of Leiria. The images, which went viral, show the military approaching a vehicle where the suspect was, dressed in security equipment.
According to information confirmed by SIC, the man was intercepted as part of an operation related to the theft of fuel. In the video, it is possible to see the GNR soldiers trying to remove the individual from the vehicle, after he allegedly refused to cooperate with the police order.
Faced with resistance, the intervention ended up being more firm, resulting in the suspect’s immobilization and detention, who was placed in the custody of the police authority. The case is now being investigated, to determine all the contours of the situation and possible involvement in other similar thefts in the region.
