On Tuesday evening, HC Slovan Bratislava released an official statement with the consent of the immediate family opinion on the current state of health of his player Roman Kukumberg Jr.
“After a serious traffic accident his health is stable and out of danger. Roman is fully conscious and communicating with his immediate family. Based on the recommendation of attending physicians in the next few days, he will undergo a three-week comprehensive rehabilitation treatment at the specialized hospital, the National Rehabilitation Center in Kováčová,” stated the hockey club.
The collision of two vehicles happened on December 2, 2025 after 7:00 a.m. on the road between Kvetoslavov and Šamorín. As a result of the accident, the 20-year-old driver suffered serious injuries and before the arrival of the police patrol, paramedics took him to a hospital in Bratislava. The Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Trnava reported about it on the social network.

The 20-year-old attacker was lying in an artificial sleep with serious head injuries in Bratislava’s Kramár. “We can confirm that today (December 2) a patient was brought to us in critical condition with serious head injuries. At the moment, diagnostics are underway and medical professionals are doing everything to save him,” the noviny.sk portal quoted the spokeswoman of the University Hospital in Bratislava, Eva Kliska.
According to the information obtained so far, a 20-year-old driver in the direction from the village of Kvetoslavov, when turning left onto the R7 expressway, did not give way to an oncoming vehicle that was coming from the town of Šamorín, as a result of which they collided. There were three people in the second vehicle who were not injured. The second driver’s breath test was negative.
Kukumberg Jr. played in the current season of the Tipsport league for the “whites” in 24 games, in which he scored one assist. In the past, he played for Slovakia at the Under-18 World Cup and at two Under-20 World Cups. He is the son of hockey player Roman Kukumberg Sr., who represented Slovakia at four World Cups, he also worked at the club level in Slovan Bratislava and is currently the head coach of HK Gladiators Trnava.
