On Friday evening the controversial liberal “Academic Ball” took place again in the Hofburg in Vienna. While German nationalist fraternities, Identitarians and FPÖ officials celebrated inside, protests formed outside. The police responded by banning large areas around the area – a measure that has long been an integral part of this evening.
