Brazil and India signed eleven governmental and institutional agreements during President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s mission to the country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. Among them are the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in rare earths and critical minerals, on the use of electronic certificates of origin and cooperation on intellectual property.
Another ten memorandums of understanding and terms of public-private cooperation and private entities were also signed during the presidential mission. This is the case of the agreement between Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz and Biocon Pharma Ltda for research, development and innovation in pharmaceuticals and strategic medicines for the Unified Health System (SUS) and in medicines intended for the treatment of neglected diseases.
The countries also launched the “Digital Partnership for the Future between Brazil and India”, which provides for cooperation in critical areas, including public digital infrastructures (IPDs), and agreed to devote “special attention” to the topic of artificial intelligence. “The leaders agreed on the need to adequately address issues relating to anti-dumping measures and countervailing duties, in order to increase the confidence of the business communities of both countries”, according to the countries’ joint statement.
