The Telegraph has revealed that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein hid computers and photographs from US authorities in secret storage units across the country.
Jeffrey Epstein allegedly made payments to private investigators to remove equipment from his Florida home and scatter it across warehouses across the US in an apparent attempt to prevent investigators from finding him. This is what an investigation by the British newspaper revealed this Monday.
The documents revealed show that the pedophile rented six storage units across the US and used them to store items from his properties, including computers from Little Saint James, his private island in the Caribbean.
The criminal had five extensive properties across the USA and France at the time of his death. Photographs of the properties taken when US authorities searched them after their arrest in 2019 showed that many contained large storage areas and empty basements, so It is unclear why Epstein would need to rent external storage rooms.
Search warrants reviewed by The Telegraph suggest that US authorities never raided the lockers, raising the possibility that they may contain never-before-seen evidence relating to Epstein and his associates, including Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
It is worth remembering that, last Thursday, he was later released in Norfolk, in the east of England, on suspicion of misconduct in public office during his period as the Government’s special representative for trade, in the early 2000s.
Earlier this month, The Telegraph had already revealed that Epstein ordered the installation of secret cameras inside his home, after a contact told him that “the Russians could be useful”. The FBI had previously stated that there was no evidence that Epstein was storing compromising material.
Documents uncovered by The Telegraph show that Epstein instructed private investigators to move computers to another storage unit after apparently being tipped off about a police raid on his home in the mid-2000s. Private investigators, the same paper says, were also asked to open a secret New York storage unit in his name, while being paid tens of thousands of dollars for their work.
Separately, Epstein officials discussed moving computers and CDs from his private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands to hidden storage rooms. The material stored in these units may predate the oldest batch of Epstein emails released by the US government, which begin around 2009.
Warned of the first raid?
As Authorities have long suspected that Epstein was tipped off about the first police raid of his Florida home in 2005.. Michael Reiter, the former Palm Beach police chief, later said that “the place had been cleaned up” and that certain IT material appeared to be missing.
Emails uncovered by The Telegraph suggest for the first time that this may have happened because Epstein paid private detectives to remove material before the raid.
An audio file in the latest release of Epstein documents confirms that authorities found “covered cameras” during the 2005 raid of his Palm Beach home, but no incriminating material.
