Where did the name come from? Mirek cutlets? It is not entirely clear that they were one of the favorite dishes of the mysterious Mirek, or maybe a certain Mirosław was the author of the recipe for this perfect dish. Regardless of the etymology, these cutlets are simply delicious. They are a combination of potatoes and chewy mozzarella cheese. Their flavor is enhanced by the addition of garlic and marjoram. They are perfect for a hot lunch or dinner.
To prepare this recipe, you will need:
- 1 kg of potatoes,
- 120 g of mozzarella cheese (in pieces),
- 1 clove of garlic,
- 1 egg,
- 30 g of wheat flour,
- half a teaspoon of dried marjoram,
- salt and pepper to taste,
- frying oil,
- breadcrumbs for coating.
Boil the peeled potatoes traditionally in water with salt. Set aside to cool. When they are cold, press them through a press or crush them thoroughly. Add crushed, chopped garlic, egg and flour. Season with marjoram, salt and pepper. Mix all ingredients.
Grate the cheese. If you want Mirek to flow out of the inside of the cutlets, you can divide them into several pieces (as many as there will be cutlets). In the first version, add mozzarella to the ingredients, and in the second version, form cutlets, put them inside and stick them together.
After forming the cutlets, roll each of them in breadcrumbs and fry on each side until golden brown. Serve with your favorite cold sauce or sour cream.
