The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), stated this Tuesday (24) that “there is no such thing as party rights” in choosing the vice-president on his ticket for re-election.
“No, there is no such thing. There is no such thing. There is no such thing as party rights,” the governor told journalists during an event in Itaquaquecetuba (SP) to hand over property deeds to homeowners in the city.
The previous day, national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, stated that he believes it is the party’s “right” to claim the place on Tarcísio’s ticket. The party leader also stated that he believes that São Paulo state deputy André do Prado (PL) would be a “great name” for the role.
“I think it’s our right. In the other election I gave in to (Gilberto) Kassab, now it’s our turn, and we have the biggest bench. But that depends on him (Tarcísio)”, said Valdemar, in reference to the national president of the PSD. The current vice-governor of São Paulo is Felício Ramuth (PSD).
On Wednesday, the 25th, Tarcísio should meet with senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), pre-candidate for the Presidency. According to the governor, the meeting will aim to discuss a project for the country, with guidelines and public policies that “the left no longer offers”.
On the afternoon of this Saturday, 21st, in a conversation with journalists, Tarcísio said he was certain that the meeting would be very positive. Asked what he thinks of the assessments of some right-wing parties that a single ticket headed by Flávio would be better to face and defeat President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the presidential election, the governor avoided criticizing the other candidates for the post and limited himself to saying that he will give his full support to the candidate son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL). “We will give Flávio our full support,” said Tarcísio.
