Desportivo de Chaves was punished with two games behind closed doors following the disciplinary process for incidents that occurred in the game of the 30th round of the 2023/2024 season, counting for the I Portuguese Football League.
In a statement released this Friday on social media, SAD Trás-os-Montes reported that the matches relating to the 25th and 27th rounds of the II League, against Academic from Viseu and the Union of Leiriarespectively, “will be played without the presence of an audience”.

In the deliberation of the Disciplinary Council (CD) of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), to which Lusa had access, it can be read that the Central Administrative Court of the South (TCAS), on December 18, 2025, handed down a ruling that upheld the appeal filed by the FPF and revoked the appealed arbitration ruling, maintaining the ruling of the FPF CD of June 26, 2025. 2024.
On this date, the SAD Trás-os-Montes was convicted of committing two disciplinary infractions“with the sanction of a fine of 5,610 euros and also the sanction of playing two games behind closed doors”, announced the CD.
However, on July 24, 2024, the Sports Arbitration Court granted an injunction, which suspended the punishment from the FPF Disciplinary Council.
In the deliberation now known, the CD says that “of the TCAS Ruling, Grupo Desportivo de Chaves – Futebol SAD filed a review appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court, which did not admit it, by decision handed down on February 5, 2026”.
The CD also informed “nothing prevents the immediate execution of the decision made within the scope of the Disciplinary Process” initiated“as long as they are assured, with the entity organizing the competition [Liga]the procedures aimed at complying with the sanction of two games behind closed doors”.
Desportivo de Chaves’ SAD “deeply regretted this situation” and reinforced “the call for civility, respect and responsible behavior from all fans”.
“We believe that only with collective commitment will it be possible to preserve the dignity, safety and values of sport”, he concluded.
