Eduardo Leite defends minimum age for STF ministers – 02/27/2026 – Panel

The governor of Rio Grande do Sul and pre-candidate for the presidency of the republic, defended a minimum age of 60 or 65 years to occupy a seat in the (Supreme Federal Court).

The statement was given at a meeting promoted by Grupo Voto at the headquarters of XP Investimentos, this Thursday (26).

In his speech, Leite said that a vacancy in the Supreme Court cannot be used as the beginning of a career: “this position must be the crowning achievement of a career, not the beginning.”

Eduardo Leite wanted to send messages that, if he is chosen by the President to run for Palácio do Planalto, he will not spare criticism of the STFs. The statements follow the

“Having a mandate at the Supreme Court cannot be synonymous with opening doors for the law firm for one’s own benefit”, stated the presidential candidate.

Ratinho Jr (PSDB-PR) and Ronaldo Caiado (PSDB-GO).
