The death was registered as a suicide, but the classification was changed to “suspicious death”. Now, the investigation will take a new direction
A Justice of São Paulo determined this Tuesday (10), that the police investigate the death of military police officer Gisele Alves Santana, aged 32, found dead at home with a gunshot to the head, as femicide.
According to Geraldo Neto, his wife took her own life inside the house on February 18, in an apartment located in Brás, central region of São Paulo, moments after an argument in which he allegedly proposed the couple’s separation (see below).
In the police officer’s version, he was in the shower early in the morning of that day when he heard the sound of a gunshot and then found Gisele already shot on the floor.
The death was recorded as suicide, but the classification has changed after Gisele’s family claimed that the soldier. The case was then treated as a suspicious death.
Now, judge Giovanna Christina Colares determined that the if it is redistributed to the Jury Courtwhere crimes against life are judged, in response to a request made “based on the nature of the crime investigated”.
Last Friday (6), the court ordered the exhumation of Gisele’s body and, according to the report, to which Estadão had access,. “These are blunt injuries, caused by digital pressure and excoriation compatible with nail stigma (caused by the nail)”, points out the report. The document also indicates that no typical defensive injuries were observed.
Sought to comment on the information, Geraldo Leite Rosa Neto’s defense informed that they did not have access to the report. In previous statements, the defenders stated that the lieutenant colonel “does not appear as being investigated, suspected or indicted in the ongoing procedure” and that, since the beginning of the investigations, the police officer “has collaborated with the authorities”.
The case happened on February 18, in the apartment where the couple lived in Brás, central region of São Paulo. In the necroscopic report carried out on February 19, one day after death, the experts had already pointed out injuries to Gisele’s neckbut did not mention that they were “forceful” brands. On that occasion, they mentioned:
In view of the information, Civil Police sources interviewed by the report understand that the chances of the case being treated as feminicide are increasing – as has already been defended by the defense of Gisele’s family – and that there is a possibility of a request for Geraldo Neto’s arrest.
