A Petrobras stated this Friday (13) that it estimates a transfer of R$ 0.06 per liter of pure diesel to the consumer, after the adjustment announced earlier.
The company’s president, Magda Chambriard, minimized the transfer, which she called “residual”.
The readjustment.
During a press conference at the state-owned company’s headquarters, Magda stated that the adjustment is in line with the company’s pricing strategy, which foresees not passing on the volatility of the international market to the domestic market.
According to her, “the war was a determining factor in the increase.”
On Thursday (12), the federal government zeroed PIS and Cofins charges on diesel. Without the measure, the estimated increase would be R$0.70.
“The federal government exempts R$0.32 per liter on the invoice (…) Petrobras charges R$0.38”, stated Chambriard.
.
The average price of the company’s diesel was 72% below import parity at market close on Thursday, or R$2.34 per liter below, according to calculations by Abicom (Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers).
The strong lag occurred after the price of Brent oil, an international reference, soared from around US$70 per barrel at the end of February to approximately US$100 per barrel.
Petrobras’ last price adjustment for distributors was a reduction that occurred in May 2025 and the last increase occurred in February 2025.
Also during the press conference, Magda stated that the company will continue to “follow the international market”.
