The City Hall mediated the sale of bread produced by inmates at Fazenda da Esperança Maria Madalena, an institution linked to the Catholic Church, which carries out work to welcome and recover women in situations of chemical dependency, for the Cristal Express Company. On Saturday, the 14th, 20 loaves of bread were delivered to the company, raising R$200.
Mayor Zequinha Lima and the Secretary of Social Action and Citizenship, Milca Santos, were at the site on Friday the 13th and learned about the production of the breads. The mayor then made contact with businessman Júnior Melo, who on Saturday, the 14th, started selling the products.

The General Coordinator of Casa Terapêutica, Evany de Souza, thanked us for the action. “Mayor Zequinha paid us a visit and tried the homemade breads that we produced to help with house maintenance, food and our expenses. He made contacts, talked to Júnior from Cristal, and with that we were able to sell our products to the Cristal supermarket chain. We were very happy because now we are going to increase our production and resources and showcase our products more,” said Evany.
Businessman Junior Melo thanked Mayor Zequinha and emphasized that Grupo Cristal will be available to collaborate with social institutions.”For us, at Grupo Cristal, it is a pleasure to be able to open space in our stores to support this very important work. The homemade breads they produce, as well as coconut bread and milk bread are being sold in our units, helping to strengthen this initiative that benefits so many people. Partnerships like this show how, when public authorities, institutions and companies work together, the community wins. Thank you Mayor Zequinha for brokering this approach,” said Júnior.
