The senator (-MA) denounced this Tuesday (17) in a speech in the House’s gallery that there is a conspiracy in state politics to take away her candidacy for re-election.
She did not mention names, but behind the scenes, allies of the parliamentarian attribute this operation to state deputy Fernando Braide (Solidarity), brother of the mayor of São Luís, Eduardo Braide (PSD).
The mayor has been nominated as a candidate for the Maranhão government against Orleans Brandão (MDB), supported by his uncle, governor Carlos Brandão (no party).
In statements in the local press, Fernando suggested that it would be necessary to accommodate allies from other parties on the ticket, thus excluding Eliziane. The other candidate for senator would be Felipe Camarão (PT), current vice-governor, breaking with the Brandão family.
The current senator has told allies that she has a guarantee from the national president of the PSDB, that she will be a candidate for re-election.
At the moment, however, the priority is to try to resolve the situation locally, and only as a last resort to turn to Kassab.
