Councilor Amanda Paschoal (-SP) represented the Public Prosecutor’s Office to open an investigation and investigate possible irregularities due to the fact that the City Hall gave the Interlagos race track to the festival without charging for it.
As the Panel revealed this Wednesday (18), management () provided the space for the three-day event in exchange for displaying its logo in all actions and locations, such as tents, stage and a six-meter-high tower equipped with an LED panel.
Last year, the city council had charged R$2.7 million to transfer the racetrack to the company Rock World, responsible for hosting Lollapalooza.
The councilor points out, in her representation, that the transfer was made without a bidding process or public call. Paschoal also points out that the Nunes administration made commitments to operational transit and logistical support expenses.
The city hall stated, in a note to the Panel, that the transfer of the race track is based on public interest and the impact that the event generates for São Paulo. According to city hall, Lollapalooza is expected to bring an impact of R$500 million to the city and generate more than 15 thousand direct and indirect jobs.
“Lollapalooza not only generates income and attracts audiences, but it projects the city of São Paulo internationally”, says the Nunes management.
“The transfer of the race track promotes a strong stimulus to the creative economy, tourism, hotels, food and services; it gives São Paulo international prominence”, adds the city hall.
