Washington DC wants the Strait of Hormuz to remain open and the dismantlement of Iran’s existing nuclear capabilities. In return it promises, among other things, the lifting of all sanctions
The United States sent a 15-point peace plan to Iran in the last few hours. The information was published by several media outlets and agencies, including Reuters and the New York Times.
On Monday, Trump had already announced the existence of this plan to journalists.
The plan was delivered to Iran through Pakistan, which has been the main mediator in the conflict.
This Tuesday, some of the details of the plan, shared by a Western source. According to the channel, the US wants the dismantlement of existing nuclear capabilities that have already been accumulated, a commitment that Iran will never seek to obtain nuclear weapons and that no material will be enriched on Iranian soil.
Washington DC also wants all enriched material to be handed over to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which must have access to all necessary information, in a timetable to be defined between the parties, and calls for the deactivation and destruction of the Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow nuclear plants.
As for the Strait of Hormuz, the US wants it to remain open and create a free maritime zone that cannot be blocked by anyone. The US also calls on Iran to stop financing proxies in the region, such as Hezbollah.
As a bargaining chip, the US would commit to lifting all sanctions imposed against Iran, as well as the threat of their reimposition, and to help promote and develop a civil nuclear project in Bushehr to produce electricity.
