The vice-governor of São Paulo, Felício Ramuth, will join the MDB. The decision was taken this Saturday, 28th, after a conversation with the mayor of the capital, Ricardo Nunes (MDB).
As shown by the EstadãoRamuth decided to leave the PSD after the party’s national president, Gilberto Kassab, broke with him. The departure occurs amid the dispute for the vice-president spot on Tarcísio de Freitas’s (Republican) ticket for re-election.
“Politics is dynamic and mainly requires clarity of direction. With serenity and a sense of responsibility, I decided to follow a new path, always aligned with the project led by governor Tarcísio”, stated the vice-governor, in a video posted on social media.
With an eye on the succession of the São Paulo government, Kassab had been working to be nominated for the post. The leader does not hide from his allies that his personal project is to be governor of São Paulo.
The plan was to repeat a strategy put into practice in 2004, when, still a federal deputy for the PFL, Kassab was chosen as vice-president on José Serra’s (PSDB) ticket for São Paulo City Hall. The maneuver ended up taking him to command of the capital of São Paulo.
As shown by the Estadão in September last year, Tarcísio told allies that there is no possibility of Kassab occupying the vice-presidential spot on his re-election ticket. Privately, the governor has said that his desire is to keep Ramuth, who began to be advised by marketer Pablo Nobel at his request. Nobel was responsible for Tarcísio’s victorious campaign in 2022, and the double should be reissued this year.

Despite Tarcísio’s preference, Kassab did not want to support his supporter’s reappointment on the ticket, which led the vice-governor to look for a new party.
Ramuth, who built his political career in the PSDB and was taken to the PSD by Kassab to contest the Palácio dos Bandeirantes, had the MDB as his preferred destination, a party with which both he and Tarcísio have a good relationship. The movement, however, depended on the approval of Mayor Ricardo Nunes, whose long-term project is to run for the São Paulo government.
In addition to Kassab, Tarcísio’s vice position was also being contested by the PL, which wanted to place the president of the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp), André do Prado, a pupil of Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the PL, in the position. Tarcísio, however, has already warned senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) that the choice will be a personal decision.
In recent weeks, the governor began to support the idea of nominating Prado for the Senate, but the situation comes up against Bolsonarism’s preference for an ideological name.
