The village of Castro Marim hosts, between the 3rd and 5th of April, the initiative “The Smallest Medieval Fair in the World”, which will take place in the Velho Cavalinho – Taberna Medieval space, next to the Main Church.
The event takes place daily between 12pm and 11pm, with free entry, and features a diverse program that includes entertainment, shows, gastronomy, themed workshops and a medieval market.
Entertainment and shows mark three days of the event
The fair will feature the participation of several artists and groups, including Saltimbanco Charneca, Druida Genaro, Corvus del Rey, Al Mendroin, Nefertiti, Circolando o Mundo and Shaltish, who will liven up the venue with performances over the three days.
The program also includes banquets, concerts, fire shows and historical recreations, providing an immersive experience for the public.
Program starts on Friday
On April 3rd (Friday), under the theme “Hiddromel Apiagro Day”, the program begins at 12:00 with Nefertiti (P1), followed by a new performance at 1:00 pm (P2).
At 2:00 pm Saltimbanco Charneca (P1) performs, with Nefertiti returning at 3:00 pm (P2).
At 4pm there is a workshop with Efic (P1), with the participation of Al Mendroin, who will perform again at 6pm (P1). At 17:00 Saltimbanco Charneca (P2) takes to the stage.
From 7pm onwards, Circolando o Mundo will perform at P1, followed, at 8pm, by several presentations simultaneously: Al Mendroin (P3), Saltimbanco Charneca (P3), Circolando o Mundo (P3) and “Queimada com Genaro” (P2).
The night ends at 10pm with new performances and a dodgeball show.
Saturday dedicated to Castro Marim
On April 4th (Saturday), dedicated to Castro Marim, the program starts at 11am with a medieval shields workshop (P1).
At 12pm, Al Mendroin (P1) performs, followed by Saltimbanco Charneca at 1pm (P2) and Corvus del Rey at 2pm (P1). At 3pm, Al Mendroin (P2) returns and, at 4pm, Circolando o Mundo (P1).
The afternoon continues with Saltimbanco Charneca at 17:00 (P1) and Corvus del Rey at 18:00 (P2). At 19:00 return Al Mendroin (P1).
From 8pm onwards, several simultaneous presentations take place, including dodgeball shows, ending the evening program at 10:30pm.
On April 5th (Sunday), under the theme “Seneschal Day”, the program starts at 12pm with Nefertiti (P1) and at 1pm (P2).
At 14:00 Corvus del Rey (P1) performs, followed by Shaltish at 15:00 (P2). At 4:00 pm there will be a craft beer workshop (P1), with a new performance by Nefertiti.
In the afternoon, Shaltish (17:00), Corvus del Rey (18:00) and Circolando o Mundo (19:00) return. At 20:00 several presentations take place simultaneously, ending the event at 22:00 with final shows.
Event focuses on an intimate medieval environment
In addition to the shows, the fair offers children’s entertainment, games, gastronomy and a themed market, recreating the atmosphere of medieval times.
With free entry, the fair held aims to provide an accessible cultural experience, standing out for its small size and proximity to the public.
