Ukraine is ready for a cease-fire: Zelenskyi, however, did not forgive himself for the stinging remark addressed to Putin!

  • Ukraine is ready to accept the Easter ceasefire in various forms.
  • According to Zelensky, Russia should determine the specific date of the proposed Easter ceasefire.
  • Previous proposals for holiday truces during the war have yet to materialize.

Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. It could be a complete ceasefire or a moratorium on attacks on energy facilitiesUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told the Ukrainian media on Monday, quoted by the DPA agency, writes TASR.

According to Zelenskyi, Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire in any form – whether comprehensive or limited – including a ceasefire on Easter, but without jeopardizing its dignity and sovereignty. “Cease fire for food security and energy, at sea and in the air. Total – no missiles or drones flying. No attacks on infrastructure“, said Zelensky.

Ukraine proposed it, and Russia should offer a date, Zelenskyy added, adding that “a permanent ceasefire, of course, would be even better.” He added that, in his opinion, “normal people who value life talk about a cease-fire and ending the war permanently, not just for a few days. But of course, we are ready for any compromises, except compromises regarding dignity and sovereignty.”

He noted that in two or three days of the cease-fire, Russia will not be able to strengthen its positions in the combat areas. “We remember what they promised to do in three days and didn’t,” noted Zelensky, alluding to Russia’s plan from the beginning of the war to capture Kiev in three days.

Zelenskyi did not specify which term of the Easter holidays he had in mind. Orthodox churches in Ukraine, as well as in Russia, celebrate Easter this year on April 12 – a week after Western Christians. During the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, there have already been several attempts to reach an agreement on a truce during the holidays. Proposals for a temporary halt to fighting during Christmas or Easter, however, have not been implemented so far.
