According to the survey, 26.3% say they will vote to prevent a candidate they consider dangerous from winning

AtlasIntel research on the perception of the electoral scenario for this year shows that 86.7% of Brazilians have already decided who they will vote for as president. According to the survey, 63.6% chose the candidate enthusiastically. Read the study (PDF – 9.26 MB).

The survey interviewed 4,224 people from March 16 to 23, 2026. The margin of error is 2 percentage points, plus or minus. The confidence level of the survey is 95%. The survey is registered with the TSE under number BR-06058/2026. The study cost R$75,000. It was paid for with its own resources.

When asking “How determined are you about your vote in the upcoming presidential election?”the study indicates an electorate with a consolidated position. In addition to the 86.7% who said they had already decided, 5.9% said they only knew who not to vote for. Another 4.5% responded to evaluate 2 or more candidates. There are still 1.7% in doubt whether to vote, cancel or not vote, while 1.3% declared not having made any decision.

In the section on voting motivation, the research asked: “In the 2026 presidential election, what do you think your vote is most likely to be like?”. The majority (63.6%) responded that they will enthusiastically vote for someone. Another 26.3% said they should vote to stop a candidate they consider dangerous. 7.9% stated that they will choose the “less worse”. Those who don’t know make up 1.5%. Those who declared that they intended to cancel, vote blank or not attend totaled 0.7%.

The survey also measured the evaluation of applications with the question: “In general, how do you evaluate the candidacies presented so far for this year’s presidential election?”. For 50.6%, there is only 1 good candidate. Another 30.7% said there were few names considered good. 8.6% stated that there are many good candidates. A portion of 5.1% declared that good candidates have no chance of winning, while 3.8% said that no name is a good option.

According to the research, the The majority (82.6%) said they follow politics very closely, every day. Another 15.3% said they follow it from time to time. 1.2% responded that they almost or never follow. There is also 0.7% who said they only follow it during elections or crises and 0.3% who said they avoid the topic.
