The popular knowledge-entertainment format I love Slovakia was part of the broadcasting structure of the public broadcaster STVR for many years. In the spring of 2025, shocking news arrived. After the arrival of the new general director of STVR, Martina Flašíková, fundamental changes took place. The session no longer appeared in the autumn structure. However, this started a fight between competing TV stations for a license contract for the popular show.
In the end, Milujem Slovensko managed to grab JOJ television. Not only did the popular format hit their screens, but they also got two-thirds of the faces of this show. Martin Nikodým remained in the role of moderator, and Adela Vinczeová continued to be the captain. Matej “Sajfa” Cifra became the second captain, replacing Daniel Dangle.
In an interview with STVR, the head of STVR Flašíková herself commented on the program change of STVR and commented on the popular format of Slovaks. JOJ does not consider the departure of Milujem Slovensko to television as a mistake, despite the fact that the show was one of the strongest entertainment programs of the public broadcaster STVR.
“Look at the viewing figures – the new format has found its audience, it’s liked and it’s doing very well. At the same time, it turns out that naturalness and authenticity are also important for the viewer. There is nothing better than being able to breathe freely and offer a positive format without unnecessary hysteria and exaggerated reactions.“, she declared.
He emphasizes that the fans of Miluje Slovakia have not lost this program. “Whoever is interested in the original format can find it elsewhere. We concentrate on what we do today and systematically work on other projects that will reflect the current viewer and the public mission“, she described STVR’s other plans.
Former TA3 moderator Rasťo Iliev published a part of this interview on the social network. “Frk of the day we should. And no, this isn’t April 1st,” evaluated the words of the general director of STVR. The protagonists of the show “I love Slovakia” also spoke in the comments and did not spare the stinging words.
“Which audience numbers does Mrs. Flašíková mean? The ones when they broadcast without competition, or the current ones, when TV JOJ already started broadcasting the hysterical show full of exaggerated reactions that made STVR the Friday TV winner for 13 years?” announced the moderator I love Slovakia Martin Nikodým.
Martin Madej, who works as a singer in the show Milujem Slovensko, was also mentioned. “As an asthmatic, I happen to breathe very freely in Milujem Slovensko. Either that is due to the air conditioning or the open and unrestricted creative environment, I don’t know,” added the famous singer.
Nikodým also responded to his comment. “If you wanted, I’ll teach you to say US 10 times in a row in one free breath,” the moderator insisted. He was alluding to the proposal of Lukáš Machala, vice-chairman of the STVR Council, who declared during the STVR Council meeting on March 24 that the quality of Slovak in public media has been declining for a long time.
In his opinion, mistakes should not remain without consequences. He cited an example from the past when journalists were fined for language offenses, and a similar system should be reinstated, he said. Machala received the most attention for his statement about the use of the abbreviation USA. According to him, the abbreviation SŠA should be used as the United States of America. “Let’s start using those abbreviations as they are in Slovak,” Machala was indignant.
