Iranian regime claims the aircraft was “completely destroyed”; United States does not confirm
The Iranian government said this Friday (April 3, 2026) that it shot down a United States F-35 fighter. According to Tehran, the aircraft was “completely destroyed” and the pilot’s survival is “unlikely”. Iranian agencies claim that the attack took place while the military plane was flying over the center of the territory. The US has not confirmed.
This is the have hit a US F-35 fighter since the beginning of the conflict, on February 28, 2026. The war aircraft is considered one of the most modern in the world and is known for its difficulty in being identified by air defenses.
The US government denied on Thursday (April 2) that this 1st fighter jet had been hit in March.
At the time, the US military confirmed that the war jet was forced to make an emergency landing at a US base in the Middle East.
On March 19, according to information from US Central Command spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins said the fighter had landed safely and the pilot’s condition was stable.
