In a frightening scene at a Seattle Northgate station, a man escaped unharmed after being pushed in front of a train. The attacker, identified as Elisio Melendez, 26, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
Surveillance camera footage, made public last Thursday, shows Melendez watching the victim, 39-year-old Michael Walbrun, distracted by his cell phone. As the train approached, the suspect pushed Walbrun towards the tracks, but the man managed to maintain his balance and avoid disaster.
Police arrived on the scene about 45 minutes later and took Melendez to the King County, Washington, jail.
