Pope carried cross himself in Good Friday procession

Vatican City – During the Good Friday procession in front of the Colosseum in Rome, Pope Leo XIV carried the cross in memory of the ordeal of Jesus Christ at the Colosseum itself. The new head of the Catholic Church thus returned to a tradition of Easter celebrations. Tens of thousands of believers gathered in front of the ancient amphitheater for the atmospheric procession on Good Friday, which commemorated the stages of Jesus’ suffering. Many carried candles in their hands.
