An avalanche in the Austrian Alps claimed the life of a forty-year-old Slovak. Rescuers found his body under a two-meter layer of snow.
On Saturday, Austrian rescuers found the body of a Slovak man who was killed by an avalanche while skiing. This is the 31st death in the Austrian mountains during this ski season, TASR writes, according to the report of the AFP agency.
A 40-year-old Slovak was skiing on the slopes of the Plattenspitze mountain in the state of Salzburg when he was swept away by an avalanche on Friday. Around midnight, the rescuers had to stop the search because of the strong wind and the risk of another avalanche. The police announced that the man’s body was found under a two-meter layer of snow on Saturday.

Avalanches claimed an extraordinary number of lives in Europe this ski season. More than a hundred people have died because of them in the Alps alone.
