In a game of low technical quality and without creativityo Corinthians hosted Internacional this Sunday, for the 10th round of the Brazilian Championship. The home team saw its uncomfortable streak of victories extend and the pressure from the fans increase after losing to the visitor Colorado 1-0 at home. Alexandro Bernabei, in the second half, scored the only goal of the match.
As a result, the Corinthians is in 16th place of the Brasileirão with ten points. Already the Interwhich was very close to the relegation zone, gained respect and reached 12 points in 13th position.
The first half was difficult for those watching from home or in the stands. Very few opportunities, especially Hugo Souza, who saved a strong shot from Bernabei close to the goal line. The assistant signaled the move was offside, which would invalidate the first goal of the duel.
Technically, the match was very equal, back and forth, with no big chances for either side.. Neither team created relevant opportunities. There were even times when the teams reached the last third of the field, but the lack of creativity and/or boldness prevailed and kept the score at zero.
Rochet was a superb spectator, with the exception of one move in which he had to be assisted after colliding with Yuri Alberto. Newcomer at Corinthians, the British Jesse Lingard even had his moments, but his efficiency left something to be desired. Overall, the home team had a lot of difficulty getting the ball to the feet of their attackers.
O truncated first half had more fouls than shotswith well-balanced possession of the ball.
On the way back to the changing rooms, Dorival Júnior promoted Rodrigo Garro in place of Matheus Pereira in an attempt to improve Corinthians’ game. The Argentine midfielder appeared a few times in the first minutes, but nothing that took the score to zero.
O The game saw a flash of improvement when Inter grew with Paulo Pezzolano’s changes. However, the script for the first stage continued and there was a lot of perspiration and a lack of inspiration on both sides. Judge Felipe Fernandes de Lima started handing out yellow cards, one of them to debutant Lingard.
Finally, at 32 minutes, Bernabei took the zero off the scoreboard. If Hugo Souza had the upper hand in the first half, this time it was the Colorado player who celebrated. He received it on the right from Vitinho, attacked the defense and shot from distance, with no chance for the Corinthians goalkeeper.
O desperation hit and Corinthians came under even more pressure and started to cross the ball into the area. Vitinho, from the home team, drew a scream from almost the crowd when he shot into the net from the outside with Rochet’s goal extremely open. Labyad also had a good chance at 44, but it wasn’t enough to get the home team off the ground.. The stoppage time continued and nothing changed on the field until the final whistle.
Corinthians entered the field under pressure. After all, the team had gone eight matches without winning – the last victory was on February 19th. Since then, there have been five draws and three defeats. Now, there are nine commitments without winning, with four failures.
In addition to the bad result, Corinthians’ performance was also worrying, which puts even more pressure and doubts on Dorival Júnior’s work. Corinthians returns to the field on Thursday, against Platense in Argentina, for the debut of the Libertadores.
