These will be caused by a combination of low pressure and high pressure over the northern part of the continent,” the meteorologists added.
Higher temperatures should be in the north of Europe in the coming weeks, while in the south and central locations normal to lower temperatures. So how does this affect the polar vortex? When it is strong, it keeps cold air above the pole, but if there is a sudden warming in it and it weakens or disintegrates, the cold reaches more southern locations.
