Former governor of Goiás and pre-candidate for President for the PSD, Ronaldo Caiado stated that his political activity is based on deliveries and not “polarization in likes”. In an interview with UOL and to Folha de S. PauloCaiado criticized the performance of the senator and also pre-candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), and his family members.
When asked about a possible comparison with his rival, Caiado differentiated, without mentioning names, his model of action in politics in relation to Flávio’s.
“I’m a person who doesn’t work with shouting, polarization and likes. I work with delivery. I’m a surgeon and, when you’re a surgeon, you know how to take care of lives and protect people, and that’s how I governed my State. Providing delivery, better education and public safety, developing the capacity to implement industries, artificial intelligence, research”, he replied. The PSD presidential candidate also stated that he is a “debate enthusiast and a democrat in essence”, stating that he does not contest the results at the polls.
When commenting on the polarization in the 2026 elections, led by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Flávio, Caiado minimized the impact at this point in the dispute, stating that voters are still open to “other options” that could convince them.
“There’s this thesis that ‘the government has this’, ‘here’s the PL bubble’, ‘here’s the PT bubble’, but the debate hasn’t started yet. We’ll see who will convince the voter more. There isn’t that consolidated range”, he explained.
Asked about the low support of party members for his pre-candidacy, Caiado said that they had not yet publicly spoken out on the issue.

“The two governors with the greatest projection in politics and the best evaluations are supporting me: Paraná and Rio Grande do Sul”, he said, in reference to state leaders Ratinho Jr (PR) and Eduardo Leite (RS).
Despite the statement, Caiado’s choice to run for President for the PSD did not please the governor of Rio Grande do Sul. In March, the Gaucho leader stated that the party’s decision tends to maintain the divisive environment in the country and that his name would be a more “balanced” choice for the dispute.
So far, the PSD governors who have not commented on Ronaldo Caiado’s candidacy are: Mateus Simões (Minas Gerais), Raquel Lyra (Pernambuco), Fábio Mitidieri (Sergipe) and Marcos Rocha (Rondônia).
