Tarcísio’s allies view Tucana’s candidacy with skepticism – 04/09/2026 – Panel

Members of the administration (Republicans) are skeptical about the possibility of having his own candidate for the government of . The bet is that the tucanos will join Tarcísio’s coalition, or at least provide informal support.

The PSDB has presented the former mayor of Santo André Paulo Serra as a pre-candidate, but the assessment of an ally of the governor is that he will actually run for office as federal deputy.

The party has Serra as its main hope of winning a seat in the Chamber for São Paulo.

Nationally, the party, which has gone through a process of depletion in recent years, aims to gain 30 deputies and thus regain political protagonism.

Another reason cited by the Tarcísio government is the good relationship with the toucans.

On the occasion, the governor praised the tucano legacy in the state and pledged to help strengthen the party. According to an ally of Tarcísio, this even included gestures to help the PSDB form a slate of deputies.

Tarcísio also bets on his proximity to members of Cidadania, a party that forms a federation with the PSDB, to attract toucans.
