The , announced that the United States began a process of “cleaning” the Strait of Hormuz after Iran stopped oil tanker and commercial ship traffic through the canal.
Iran installed naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of all oil traded by sea in the world passes, and attributed the action to what it called Israeli violations of the ceasefire, after Israel attacked Lebanon.

“We are now beginning the process of cleaning up the Strait of Hormuz as a favor to countries around the world, including China, Japan, South Korea, France, Germany and many others. Incredibly, they have neither the courage nor the will to do this work themselves,” Trump said on his social media site, Truth Social.
Trump also said that oil tankers from several countries are heading to the United States to supply themselves with oil, and again stated that Iran is “losing the war” and would not be able to cut off the Strait.

“The only thing left for them is the threat that a ship could ‘bump’ into one of their sea mines – which, by the way, is unlikely, since all 28 vessels used to launch mines are also on the seabed,” said the president.
