Registration has opened for the 2026 Journalistic Excellence Awards, which recognize productions from across the American continent.
The award includes 13 categories, in addition to the Grand Prize for Press Freedom, given to a person or organization with outstanding performance in the defense of freedom of expression.
Works published from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026 in print, digital media, radio or television can compete. Categories include formats such as interview, opinion, podcast and in-depth, as well as topics such as migration, environment, data and gender equality. Publications in Portuguese, Spanish or English will be accepted.
The categories also include current affairs coverage, photography, video, data journalism, university journalism and environmental reporting, as well as specific awards for migration coverage and productions with an equality perspective.
Each work can be entered in only one category. Candidates can participate with different productions in up to three categories.
The winners in each category will receive a prize of US$2,000 (approximately R$9,900). The ceremony is scheduled for October 2026, during the entity’s 82nd General Assembly, in .
