President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) participates, this Saturday (18), in the 4th High-Level Meeting of the Democracia Semper Forum, an initiative launched in 2024 to strengthen international coordination in defense of democracy, in Barcelona, Spain.
Lula embarked on Thursday morning (16) for an official trip to Europe, which includes commitments in Spain, Germany and Portugal. The international agenda, which runs until Tuesday (21), includes participation in high-level political meetings, multilateral forums, meetings with business leaders and the signing of strategic agreements.
At today’s event, the heads of state present must discuss the succession of the General Secretariat of the United Nations, with the defense of expanding female participation, and the inclusion of issues such as political and digital gender violence on the international agenda.
Both Brazil and Spain defend the position.
According to Itamaraty, the Forum focuses on themes that require “stronger” political coordination. On this occasion, three axes must be addressed by the heads of States: multilateralism, the fight against inequality and the fight against disinformation. Brazil should also share the country’s recent experience with January 8th.
After the Forum, in the afternoon, the president participates in the plenary session of an event with representatives of civil society and unions, where he will make the closing speech.
