Os four military police officers accused of shooting dead a surrendered young manon July 10, 2025, in the community of Paraisópolis, in the south zone of São Paulo, there will be judged by the Jury.
Renato Torquatto da Cruz, Robson Noguchi de Lima, Hugo Leal de Oliveira Reis and Victor Henrique de Jesus are defendants for the by Igor Oliveira de Moraes Santosaged 24, during a police operation.
Renato and Robson’s jury will take place on July 28th, at 10:30 am, at the Barra Funda Criminal Forum. The trial date for Victor and Hugo has not yet been set because the process has been split and the juries will take place separately.
According to the sentence, which CNN Brazil had access, the military police began a pursuit of suspects involved in drug trafficking, who hid in a room of a residence. According to agents, they were armed.
When located behind a bed, the police ordered the men to put their hands on their heads, an order that was followed by the suspects, including the victim, who surrendered.
The prosecution claims that, even with the surrender, Renato Torquatto da Cruz while he had his hands raised and resting on his head. Afterwards, the other police officer, Robson Noguchi de Lima, shot the young man with a shotgun.
Defendants Hugo Leal de Oliveira Reis e Victor Henrique de Jesus were indicted for the same crime, although the fatal shots came from the other two agents. For justice, the military contributed, in any way, to the commission of the crime, providing moral and material assistance to the perpetrators.
Furthermore, both would have participated in the approach and surrender of the suspects, also firing firearms inside the room where Igor was killed.
According to witnesses, the police entered the room shouting and asked if Igor had a criminal record. Upon hearing his refusal, they ordered him to get up and, the moment he stood with his hands outstretched, they started shooting.
In one of the statements, a witness reported that there was no no weapon or drugs at the scene.
In September last year, the that the military police Renato Torquatto da Cruz was the author of the shots that killed Igor Oliveira.
What the defense says
The police’s defense claims that one of the individuals tried to pull out a gun and, therefore, the police fired shots.
In the case records, Hugo and Renato’s defense asked for summary acquittal, arguing self-defense. Robson and Victor Henrique’s defense also pleaded for summary acquittal.
HAS CNN Brazilthe lawyer for defendants Robson and Victor, who remain in prison, stated that the body cameras did not demonstrate reality. “The defense intends to demonstrate to the jurors the legality of the police action, as the body cameras did not show the reality”, says the note.
