A Canadian tourist has died and several people have been injured after a armed attack by a man in Teotihuacán archaeological zone (Mexico).
He attacker took his own life shortly after opening fire on people in one of the country’s major tourist spots.
“According to preliminary information, a man fired shots at the location and subsequently took his life. Unfortunately, a woman of Canadian nationality lost her life,” the Mexican authorities initially stated.
The shooting, captured in several videos of tourists present, occurred this Monday, when the attacker started shooting from the top of the Pyramid of the Moon. At that moment, the voices of several citizens were heard in the area, while numerous tourists ran away.
After the events, elements of the National Guard and the State of Mexico police deployed an operation and They cordoned off the archaeological zonelocated about 50 kilometers from the Mexican capital, while investigations continue.
