Find out how the SP train and subway will work at the end of the year

Transport in the capital of São Paulo will have special programming in some stations for New Year’s Eve

CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos) and Metrô (Companhia do Metropolitano de São Paulo) will operate differently at Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

This Tuesday (Dec 24, 2024), all lines operated by Metro (1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and 15-Silver) will have a working day fleet. On Wednesday (Dec 25), the lines will operate at the usual times, from 4:40 am to midnight, but with a Sunday fleet.

On December 31st, the Paraíso stations (lines 1-Blue and 2-Green), Brigadeiro and Trianon-Masp (Line 2-Green), will remain open uninterruptedly, for boarding and disembarking, during New Year’s Eve, until the 1st.

To avoid crowds, the Consolação station (Line 2-Green) – closest to the stage of the New Year’s Eve party on Paulista – will close at 4pm on the 31st and will only reopen at 6am on the 1st. Passengers who usually use this station will be able to use the access points at Paulista station, on Line 4-Yellow, to board or disembark.

The other Metro stations on lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and 15-Silver will remain open for boarding and disembarking until 2am on the 1st and, after that time, they will continue to operate only for disembarking passengers . On the 1st day of 2025, the Metro lines will operate normally, opening for boarding at 4:40 am.

“The staff of operational employees and security agents will be reinforced at the stations closest to the New Year’s Eve location on Paulista. Travel purchases can be made at the ticket offices at Paraíso, Brigadeiro and Trianon-Masp stations, throughout the night and at other stations, ticket sales will take place until 2am”declared Metrô, in a statement.

On the 24th, Christmas Eve, train circulation on the CPTM lines (7-Rubi, 10-Turquesa, 11-Coral, 12-Safira and 13-Jade), including the Expresso Aeroporto service, will be normal. On Christmas Day (25), the schedule will be like that of a Sunday. On December 31st, circulation will also be normal. On January 1, 2025, the train schedule and intervals will be the same as those practiced on Sundays.
