Rajoy denies the party’s B accounting and having ordered monitoring of Bárcenas

The former president of the Government, in his statement at the National Court, has rejected the story made this week by the party’s former treasurer Luis Bárcenas, who said that he recorded Rajoy in his office in Genoa when he handed him a ‘B’ accounting sheet of the party, which he supposedly destroyed, and an envelope with the last remainder.

Rajoy, as a witness, has said that this statement was radically false and has denied any involvement or existence of the Kitchen case. He has indicated that he never ordered follow-ups on Bárcenas after the Gürtel investigation broke out and, if he spoke to someone from the PP about it, it was because “it was a topic that was not pleasant,” but for nothing else. He has denied that he ordered measures to be taken to destroy evidence that implicated the PP in the Gürtel case.

This is the third time that Rajoy testifies as a witness at the National Court. The former president is limiting himself to answering in monosyllables without going into detail on many of the questions.
