Ramón Sosa was the scorer of 2 of the 3 goals for Abel Ferreira’s team; Felipe Anderson scored the last
Ramón Sosa entered the field this Thursday (23) destined to be the protagonist of the game. The Paraguayan scored four goals – only two were worth it –, conceded a penalty and led Palmeiras to a 3-0 victory over Jacuipense, at Allianz Parque, in the first game of the fifth phase of the Copa do Brasil.
Sosa’s good performance, who received a standing ovation when substituted in the 23rd minute of the second half, was enhanced by the partnership with Mauricio. Which reflects great news for the Paraguay team, which has both athletes for the World Cup.
However, Palmeiras recorded losses in this game. Jacuipense entered the field using aggression, with violent fouls that resulted in an expulsion, yellow cards and a repeat injury to Vitor Roque.
Jacuipense and Palmeiras will face each other again on May 13th, at 9:30 pm. The match will be played in Londrina-PR, at Estádio do Café. The result obtained at Allianz Parque will allow the alviverde club to lose by up to two goals difference. The Bahian team will need to win by three goals to take it to penalties and four or more goals to take the place in normal time For the Brasileirão, Palmeiras takes the field on Sunday, at 6:30 pm, visiting Red Bull Bragantino.
Palmeiras imposed themselves from the first moves and promptly reached the goal. Sosa was brought down in the area by David Santana, and the referee signaled a penalty. The Paraguayan converted the charge and put the Alviverde team ahead in the 9th minute.
Abel opted for a mixed team, with players who played less in recent matches or were suspended. Thus, Vitor Roque, recovered from injury, was named as starter. But just after 15 minutes, he suffered an aggressive foul from Vicente Reis, injured the same ankle again that kept him out of action for almost a month and was replaced.
At 32, Sosa received, from the left, a cross from Khellven, adjusted it and headed towards the goal. After the celebration, frustration: the goal was canceled due to a touch on the Paraguayan’s hand.
In 30 minutes, Jacuipense received three yellow cards. The Bahian team exaggerated the force of their fouls and, even after hurting Vitor Roque, they did not change their stance. Until at 35, Talisca was sent off after another hard foul, at the edge of the area, on Lucas Evangelista.
A new penalty was awarded in the 41st minute after Felipe Anderson tried to cross from the right side and the ball hit the Jacuipense athlete in the face. VAR recommended a review, and the penalty was annulled.
At 44, another goal by Sosa was disallowed. The Paraguayan touched his head in an irregular position. But at 53, Felipe Anderson scored his first goal of the season. After a play with a rebound in the penalty area, the midfielder finished and scored.
Despite their dominance, Palmeiras did not achieve an elastic score in the first half. Jacuipense’s violence, lack of aim and a dose of bad luck due to the bad positioning of the attackers made the mission difficult.
For the second half, Palmeiras returned with the same stance. At 10, the third penalty was scored – and confirmed. Arthur was knocked down in the area. Sosa charged and saved the third.
Little by little, Abel made changes to the team and put starters on the field, such as Arias, López and Andreas. However, the team slowed down and stopped pressing with such intensity. Flaco López narrowly missed scoring with a bicycle kick in extra time, but goalkeeper Marcelo made a great save and prevented the fourth goal.
