Turkish Grand Prix returns to the Formula 1 calendar in 2027

The return will be officially marked this Friday, at an event at Dolmabahçe Palace, in Istanbul. Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas, then a Mercedes driver, was the last driver to celebrate, in 2021.

The Turkish Grand Prix will return to the Formula 1 World Championship calendar from 2027. The race will be held at the Istanbul Park circuit, which hosted Formula 1 on nine occasions between 2005 and 2011, and subsequently in 2020 and 2021.

A launch event is planned for Friday at Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul, with the presence of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoganfrom the executive director of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicaliand the president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

The Istanbul circuit, with 5.34 kilometers longhas 14 curvesincluding the famous curve number eight, a triple left taken at high speed.

The Brazilian Felipe Massawith three triumphs (2006, 2007 and 2008) is the most successful driver in Türkiye, followed by the British Lewis Hamilton (2010 and 2020), with two. The Finn Valtteri Bottas was the last driver to celebrate, in 2021.
