Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon leave six dead despite a ceasefire

Six people died in Israel’s attacks on southern Lebanon, according to the local health department. Attacks continue even during the ceasefire concluded with Hezbollah.

Lebanon’s health ministry said six people were killed in Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon on Friday, despite a ceasefire in the more than six-week war between Israel and the Hezbollah movement. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

In its statement, the ministry said that in addition to the six victims, two other people were also injured in the airstrikes. Earlier on Friday, the Israeli army reported that it had killed six people in the city of Bint Jubail, allegedly Hezbollah fighters. There was intense fighting in this area just a few days before the ceasefire was announced on 17 April. It is currently unclear whether these are the deaths reported by the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) also announced Friday that one of its members, originally from Indonesia, died of injuries sustained in a March 29 attack in southern Lebanon. Another Indonesian soldier was also killed in this attack, who, according to the preliminary investigation, was killed by a projectile fired from an Israeli tank. According to data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have claimed a total of 2,491 lives since the war began on March 2.
