US President stated that the conversation, which lasted 1h30, with the Russian leader was “very good”
The President of the United States, (Republican Party), said that the Russian leader, (independent), offered help in the war against Iran during a phone call on Wednesday (29.Apr.2026), specifically in relation to uranium enrichment.
“He [Putin] I would like to help. I said, ‘Before you help me, I want to end your war.’”declared Trump in the Oval Office of the White House, according to journalist Kaitlan Collins, from .
The republican stated that the conversation with Putin was “very good” and that a solution to the conflict in Ukraine would emerge “relatively fast”.
“He [Putin] told me he would like to get involved in uranium enrichment. He can help us achieve it.”disse Trump.
Russia initiated the call, which had a “frank and professional”according to Kremlin spokesman Yury Ushakov. The conversation between the leaders would have lasted 1 and a half hours.
The Russian president had already presented proposals to try to restore peace in the region after the start of Israeli and American attacks on Iran. Among them is the offer to store Iranian enriched uranium as a mechanism to reduce tensions. The US, however, did not accept this proposal.
On Wednesday (April 29), Trump did not explicitly rule out the possibility of Iran sending uranium to Russia, but suggested he was more interested in resolving the war in Ukraine.
“I’ve known him for a long time. I think he was ready to make a deal a while ago.”the Republican said about Putin to CNN. “I think some people made this agreement difficult.”he stated, without mentioning names.
Putin mentioned the possibility of a ceasefire on May 9, when Russia celebrates the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
