Deputy and councilor of Cuiabá are suspects in operation investigating deviation of amendments

State deputy Elizeu Nascimento and councilor Cezinha Nascimento were the targets of a search and seizure warrant this Thursday (30)

Operation Hidden Amendment, which investigates the irregular routing of parliamentary amendments to private institutes linked to political agents, was launched this Thursday (30) by the Public Ministry (MP) of Mato Grosso. The investigation involves the state deputy Elizeu Nascimento (New) in addition to his brother, the councilor for Cuiabá Cezinha Nascimento (União).

The action is conducted by the Original Competence Actions Center (Naco), with support from the Civil Judiciary Police and the State Comptroller General.

According to the MP-MT, during the operation, home, personal and vehicle search and seizure measures were carried out related to the brothers, the Instituto Social MatoGrossense (ISMAT) and the Instituto Brasil Central (IBRACE), who are targets of the operation.

According to Naco, the amounts were passed on to the company Sem Limite Esporte e Evento LTDA, which he then returned in cash to the parliamentarians responsible for the amendments.

During the operation, investigators seized around R$200 thousand in cashin addition to cell phones, notebooks and documents that can contribute to the advancement of investigations. The Court of Justice of Mato Grosso authorized the breaking of banking and tax secrecy, the lack of access to assets and the freezing of values ​​of those involved.

Councilor Cezinha Nascimento’s advisor informed the Young Pan that the facts are being properly monitored and analyzed by the competent authorities. “It is clarified that, to date, the lawyers have not yet had access to the files, given the confidential process. It is also noted that the councilor received the security agents at his residence, contributing fully to the fulfillment of the steps taken”, he said in a note.

The councilor made it clear that awaits the progress and developments of the investigations for a “possible more in-depth statement” and is available for further clarification.

The Court of Justice of Mato Grosso also authorized the breaking of banking and tax secrecy, as well as the unavailability of assets and the freezing of values ​​of those involved.

The operation also included the participation of employees from the Specialized Police Station for Combating Corruption (Deccor), the Specialized Police Station in Financial Crimes and the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco).
