A technical team from the federal government will be sent tomorrow, the 3rd, to Paraíba to support municipalities affected by the heavy rains recorded in recent days. The technicians will guide city halls on federal recognition of the emergency situation, in addition to requesting resources for humanitarian assistance, restoration and reconstruction.

The Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes, stated that he is in contact with local authorities to monitor the rain situation in Paraíba and guarantee support from the federal government. The work of the federal team includes technical support for municipalities to survey damage and access federal government resources.

“We will immediately recognize the municipalities that need this recognition. This is a fundamental step, as it allows us to mobilize the entire structure of the federal government, from the Armed Forces and the National Civil Defense, in providing humanitarian aid, to the necessary actions to restore normality”, declared the minister.

Paraíba records approximately 16,100 people affected by the rains, including 624 displaced people, 703 homeless people and two deaths. The biggest impacts are concentrated in the municipalities of Bayeux, Rio Tinto, Mamanguape, Sapé, Ingá, João Pessoa and Cabedelo.
