May 5, 1945, Katsdorf in Upper Austria: When 26-year-old Albert Kosiek was woken up early in the morning, it was another day for him like many others in the army. His superior officer sends Kosiek out to lead a reconnaissance squad. At the head of 23 soldiers, he is supposed to control bridges for the further march. Shortly after sunrise the squad leaves the military camp. The soldiers have no idea that they will be the ones who liberate the Mauthausen concentration camp just a few hours later.
