“Yesterday, a driver of a passenger train started work and started his shift around 4:00 p.m. by leaving the Přerov station in the direction of Lipník nad Bečvou. He behaved in a non-standard way while driving. During the journey from Přerov, he repeatedly neglected to open the doors for passengers at train stops, he had visibly slow departures, and the train began to be late.” Zajícová described the situation. The police gave the man two breathalyzer tests, from which the result was 2.83 and 2.81 per thousand of alcohol.
The train driver was then taken to the hospital for a medical examination, where his blood was also taken for the presence of alcohol. The spokeswoman did not provide the results of the blood tests. Although no one was injured during the ride or there was no damage to property, according to Zajícová, it is currently being checked whether there was any financial damage related to the train delay or the blockade on the track.
“The police commissioner started criminal proceedings for the crime of general endangerment due to negligence, for which, according to the criminal code, a ban on activity, or a prison sentence of six months to five years can be imposed,” the spokeswoman added.
