The president of , Edinho Silva, told supporters this Tuesday (5) that the senator (-MG) should not run for government of Minas Gerais. He was President Luiz Inácio da Silva’s favorite name to head a ticket in the state election and support him in the dispute for a new term at the head of Palácio do Planalto.
Edinho spoke about the subject with supporters at a meeting of the PT’s GTE (electoral working group). The party body meets weekly to discuss alliances for this year’s dispute.
Pacheco never made a decisive move to run for office, which was already bothering PT supporters. Furthermore, sectors of the PT assess that he helped the president of , (União-AP), in the articulation that led to the (Supreme Federal Court), .
The President of the Republic, however, had indicated to allies that he still . Edinho should still try to talk to the senator about the matter.
The PT leadership also decided to seek out the former mayor of () to discuss an alliance with Lula in Minas Gerais. Kalil is a pre-candidate for the state government, and the PDT is seeking PT support for the Minas Gerais election.
The alliance in Minas Gerais is one of the main problems of Lula’s re-election candidacy. The state is the second with the most voters in the country. The PT member needs strong allies on the ground to give volume to his campaign.
