Stronger winds may occur in western Slovakia on Wednesday afternoon. From the evening, it can blow more significantly even in the mountains. This is pointed out by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ), which issued warnings of the first level. He informs about it on his website.
Wind warnings apply to the entire Bratislava and Trnava regions, most of the Nitra region and the Myjava district. Wind gusts there can occasionally reach a speed of 65 to 70 kilometers per hour (km/h), on average 45 to 50 km/h. The warnings are provisionally valid from 15:00 to 18:00.
Warnings against stronger winds in the mountains apply to the districts of Banská Bystrica, Brezno, Poprad, Dolný Kubín, Liptovský Mikuláš, Ružomberok and Tvrdošín. On the ridges of the mountains, the wind can reach gusts of 110 to 135 km/h, with an average of 70 to 85 km/h, which is a gale. “The expected wind speed represents a potential danger for human activities, especially for hiking and mountain climbing,” reminds SHMÚ. The warnings are provisionally valid from 8:00 p.m. until Thursday (May 7) 08:00 a.m.
