Pre-candidate for President for Novo had a 32% increase in the month he exchanged insults with the STF minister; biggest growth was on Instagram
The former governor of Minas Gerais and Novo’s pre-candidate for President, recorded a growth of 1.4 million followers on his social media profiles in April 2026. The data is from the Agency and considers the following platforms: Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X.
Romeu Zema had, in total, 4.6 million followers at the beginning of April 2026. The number, according to the agency, grew to 6.0 million, which represents an increase of 32% across all networks. The growth resulted from the clash with the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court).
On Instagram alone, the pre-candidate grew by 36.5%, equivalent to 932.7 thousand followers, going from 2.6 million to 3.5 million.

GILMAR X ZEMA
On April 20, Minister Alexandre de Moraes sent a criminal report against Romeu Zema so that the former governor could be investigated in the Fake News investigation. The request is based on a video published by the miner titled “The Untouchables”. The play uses puppets that represent ministers Dias Toffoli and Gilmar Mendes and criticizes their actions in the Master case.
Gilmar’s request has already been forwarded by Moraes to the (Attorney General’s Office). In response, Zema made several . On the same Monday, in an interview with GloboNews, the pre-candidate stated that the Supreme Court operates in a way that the other party does not have its own “due right of defense”. Later, in a video published on his official profile on X, Zema said he was being persecuted and added: “Those who consider themselves untouchable no longer tolerate any kind of joke”.
