With 34 points, coach Abel Ferreira’s team, still serving a suspension for indiscipline, remains in the lead, with no chance of losing its position in this round
Palmeiras and Remo drew 1-1 this Sunday (10), in a match that started almost two hours late due to rain in Mangueirão, in Belém. Even with numerical superiority during half of the second half, as the rower Zé Ricardo was expelled at 28the Palmeirenses maintained the difficulty in opening spaces by working the ball, already presented previously, and left the game in the 15th round of the Brasileirão frustrated.
With 34 points, coach Abel Ferreira’s team, still serving a suspension for indiscipline, continues in the lead, with no chance of losing position in this round. The next match is against Jacuipense, in the second round of the fifth phase of the Copa do Brasil, at 9:30 pm on Wednesday, in Jacuípe. Remo, in the relegation zone, with nine points, is also playing in the knockout tournament, against Bahia.
The game It was scheduled for 4pm, but it only started at 5:40pm. Many puddles of water formed on the pitch and prevented the duel from starting at the scheduled time. Two return forecasts were made, at 4:30 pm and 5 pm, until the volume of water decreased and, finally, it was possible to take the players to the field for protocol and the opening whistle.
The field was heavy, especially because the rain continued, albeit less intensely. The water, however, was no obstacle for Alef Manga, who opened the scoring for the home team in the first minute, in a move that began with a ball barely cleared by the Palmeiras defense. Defender Murilo’s distant marking made life easier for the opposing attacker, who, in turn, quickly resolved the play in two touches: control and, already inside the area, a shot into the net.
O Remo didn’t back down after opening the scoring and continued attacking. Well organized defensively, it had Zé Welisson’s coverage as one of its pillars to contain Palmeira’s talents. Arías and Allan looked for plays inside, without success in giving greater speed to the Palmeiras attack. It is indisputable that the pitch did not favor the practice of the best football, but the São Paulo team exhibited recurring problems, such as the inability to work the ball with patience.
A passing error from Patrick in midfield gave Palmeiras the chance to equalize, and Ramón Sosa didn’t waste it. From then on, the performance of Palmeiras was better, concentrated on the construction and movement of Allan, who helped the São Paulo team to have more offensive volume until the half-time whistle.
Defense by Carlos Miguel after a shot by Patrick and the ball hit the crossbar by Marcelinho. This was the pressure that Palmeiras suffered in less than five minutes of the second half. For a very short time, Remo did not repeat the fulminant start of the initial stage. After the scares, with possession of the ball, the Palmeiras started to dictate the pace of the game. It lacked the necessary aggressiveness to bring more danger to the opponent’s goal.
The expulsion of remista Zé Ricardo, for a harsh tackle on Andreas Pereira, made the match more favorable to the visitors, who planted themselves in the attacking field, but insisted on the same mistakes they made throughout the game. There was great difficulty in penetrating the defense of the team from Pará, who, in the end, got the better of the duel by holding on with one less. Bruno Fuchs even scored with a header in stoppage time, but the move failed.oi disallowed because the ball touched Flaco López’s hand before passing to the defender.
