In recent days, an incident that shocked the whole of Slovakia has become popular on social networks. It concerned a seller of langoustines in Kvetoslavov. After visiting the financial administration, he was in for an unpleasant surprise in the form of a large fine. The reason for the high penalty was not the reduction of taxes or the failure to issue a block, but a banal technical deficiency – Slovak diacritics were missing from the receipt, writes .
The businessman Anton Pašek was not worried before the inspection, since he allowed customers to pay by card from the beginning and tried to have everything in order. However, the inspectors focused on the text on the issued pad. Since the treasury did not press softly and long, they awarded him a fine of 1,500 euros, which the company had to pay within three days.
The striking fact about the whole case is the speed with which the problem was solved. The cash register supplier was able to activate the missing functionality within 20 minutes. According to the lawyer, this happened during the ongoing inspection. however, the inspectors did not mention this fact in the minutes. The defender of the operation considers the sanction to be unjustified. According to her, the law punishes the situation when the cash register does not have the given function at all, and not the case when it is simply not activated.
The unpleasant incident of a small family business touched the majority of Slovaks. They did not understand why it was necessary to give such a high fine for a mistake that was corrected in a few minutes. Public figures, including politicians, reacted to it on social networks. “This is a huge St*ness. Minister Kamenický (minister of finance, editor’s note), you should be ashamed,” Boris Kollár, the leader of the SME RODINA party, sent a message to his political colleague.
Actors and singers also spoke. “That’s terrible. We’re literally making life difficult here.” actor Štefan Martinovič wrote critical words. “This is already crossing all healthy boundaries…” actress Natália Puklušová joined. “This is where we live?!” asked an angry Daniela Nízlová from the singing duo Twiins.
