Those who receive benefits or aid from Social Security now have access to a renewed functionality on the agency’s official portal. At issue is the Consultation and Issuance of the Declaration of Benefits and Support, a document frequently used to prove income or the lack thereof with different public and private entities. The change came into force this week and aims to simplify a process that, until now, was seen by many users as unintuitive.

This is a formal proof that indicates, in aggregate form, the amounts received in a given year or, alternatively, the lack of any benefits associated with the beneficiary.

This document is presented, for example, to municipal councils in the context of applications for social support, to educational establishments in requests for school social action or to entities in the health sector. The reliability of the information contained therein therefore plays a central role in the assessment of these requests.

Obtaining the declaration continues to require authentication on the Social Security Portal. After logging in, the user must access the area dedicated to declarations and choose the option to consult and request the Declaration of Benefits and Support, then selecting the year to which the document refers.

This update comes in a broader context of recent changes to the portal, some related to strengthening security in accessing digital services and protecting citizens’ personal data.
